On April 11, 2021 at around 2:00 p.m. EST, Daunte Wright (October 27, 2000April 11, 2021), a 20-year-old black man,[1] was shot and killed by police in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota as he attempted to re-enter his vehicle during a traffic stop.[2] Wright drove several blocks before crashing his vehicle into another and was pronounced dead at the scene.[3] The shooting sparked protests and demonstrations around the city, including looting and arson, leading to a city-wide curfew.[4][5] The shooting occurred just 10 miles from the scene of the killing of George Floyd a year prior.[6]
